Learning Environment
What children need at this stage
Children at this age need repetition, clear boundaries, co-regulation and many chances to practise. They are learning to wait, negotiate, communicate strong preferences and participate in everyday routines.
Settling and relationship
Educators use familiar greetings, visual cues and engaging play to support separation. Feelings are acknowledged, comfort is offered and families receive honest reassurance about how their child has settled.
Experiences you may see
• Dramatic play and home-corner experiences
• Playdough, clay, collage and process art
• Bike-track and gross-motor play
• Sorting, matching and simple counting
• Group songs, stories and movement
• Nature, gardening and water exploration
Routines and family communication:
Children are encouraged to participate in mealtimes, handwashing, dressing and care routines with patient support. Rest needs remain individual. Families hear about both the practical parts of the day and the learning behind the play.
